When taking the measurements of irregular shapes and distances, things can get frustrating. There are places that a regular ruler cannot help much, for example, when working on a woodworking or auto body project. Using cardboard stencils make for a pretty decent approximation method; however, if you want to do a quick and perfect job, you may consider purchasing a tool for transferring curves and irregular shapes. That is where the contour duplication gauge comes in.
Accurate and quick shape duplication
This measuring device records the cross-sectional shape of a surface with ease. It works like a charm and will make for an excellent addition to any tool arsenal, whether at home or for professional use.
We often have to duplicate the profiles and contours on projects that require irregular yet well-fitting cuts. For instance, this tool can help when fitting a carpet to cover every inch of space in the room properly, like a glove. The contour profile gauge allows you to work with less hassle by copying the exact measurements and shapes with ease.
Lightweight design and portable
Easy to use – press the gauge against the object to match its profile and then trace the shape. Each pin will rest in position until you track the shape
Practical and functional instrument – Contains both metric and imperial ruler markings on both sides to help make your cuts more precise
Made of high-quality, anti-rust ABS plastic for strength and durability
Multipurpose design – works well measuring winding pipes, ducts, circular frames, etc. also ideal for tile fitting, laminating, carpeting, molding, woodworking, auto body works, modeling, etc.
Suitable for commercial or occasional home use
How a Saker contour duplication meter works
The relief duplication device comprises of a set of long, thin, moveable pins that set against each other in a and a perpendicular housing frame. The frame keeps all the nails in the same plane and parallel to each other. It also holds them in place as they take an impression of the surface. Each pin can move independently and perpendicular to the plane when some pressure is applied.
As a result, when this equipment presses against an object (or profile), the pins mimic the shape of the object.
The contour replication instrument measures the profiles of any irregular objects and creates instant templates for making accurate cuts. With its ease of use, this is the ultimate solution for replicating a pattern.
It finds a lot of use in woodworking, auto body, stainless steel works, interior décor, auto metal sheet, and all other kinds of modeling.
How to use the contour replication gauge?
To use the instrument, start by first pressing the pins against a flat surface to ensure all of the ends are in line. Next, press the gauge against the surface whose profile you want. The tip of each pin will define a point on the surface, creating a pattern of pins around the curves in a way you can trace.
While tracing the profile, your pencil will make contact with the tip of each wire. Therefore, the tracing will be a bit uneven, but this is easy to smoothen out.
